Islam is the foundation of my life, guiding my values, actions, and aspirations. It provides me with purpose, peace, and a framework for continuous self-improvement. Through prayer, reflection, and the teachings of the Quran, I find strength and clarity in navigating life's challenges. Faith reminds me to be grateful, compassionate, and mindful in every moment.
The word Islam is derived from the word salaam which means peace. Islam is, therefore, a system where all those who understand, follow and act on its teachings aim to promote peace throughout the world. A Muslim is one who submits to the laws and orders of Allah and a Mu'minun (Believer) acts on the teachings of Islam. We Mu'mineen believe that overtime Allah sent Prophets to different nations to remind them of the Purpose of Life which is to worship Him and Him Alone. There are many Prophets mentioned in The Holy Qur'an like Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), Musa (Moses), Isa (Jesus Christ) and Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Them All). The Holy Qur'an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad over a period of 23 years and was memorised in his lifetime and passed down onto generations. The Qur'an is still as intact as it was when it was revealed over 1400 years ago. The foundations of The Noble Qur'an are: Al-Ahkam (Commandments of Allah) Al-Fara'id (Obligatory Duties due to Allah) Al-Hudud (Legal Laws for Punishment) Mu'minuns (Believers) are to recite it, understand it, follow it, act on its orders and preach it to men. The Definition of Islam: Prophet Muhammad was once asked, What is Faith? Allah's Messenger replied, Faith is to believe in Allah, His Angels, (the) Meeting with Him, His Messengers and to believe in Resurrection. When further asked, What is Islam? Allah's Messenger replied, To Worship Allah Alone and none else, to perform As-Salat (the prayers), to give the Zakat (obligatory charity) and to observe Saum (fasts) during the month of Ramadan. When asked What is Ihsan (excellence)? Allah's Messenger replied, To worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot achieve this state of devotion then you must consider that He is looking at you.
